The other end of the spectrum involves going all out with a very high end home espresso machine. You can achieve an excellent espresso and all of its derivative espresso drinks without going to such extremes.

Basic Coffee Maker Accessories

Coffee Maker Accessories - Getting More Out of Your Coffee Pot

Finding the top coffee maker accessories can be a bit of a challenge. While many coffee makers will have features and options built into them, there are always a host of things you can get to make your coffee even better. Even if you are not a coffee connoisseur, getting the right coffee maker accessories can make your coffee experience a much more pleasurable one. For me there really are three things that every decent coffee pot needs.

The first, and most important coffee maker accessory, is a decent coffee grinder. Pre-ground, canned coffee does not have nearly have the flavor as a good freshly ground pot has. By grinding the bean just before placing it in the pot to get brewed you will capture and retain all of the natural flavor of the coffee bean. If you have never tried fresh ground coffee you have no idea what you are missing.

The other accessory that I like to have is a high quality water filter. Some people will use bottled water for their coffee, but I find that to be a bit overkill. A good water filter will take out all the harsh metals and chemicals from tap water. I drink a lot of coffee, and using the best possible water not only makes it taste better but keeps me healthier as well. The water filter also has other uses that goes beyond just your coffee. I use it for drink mixes for the kids as well as simply just ice water.

Lastly is the filter you use. Here I have found that the actual filter really does not make a huge difference. I will usually go about and buy whatever is cheapest and get it in bulk. The most important thing is to make sure that it is the recommended size for your coffee pot. Putting in the wrong kind of filter is the quickest way to ruin a good pot of coffee and possibly even the coffee pot itself. You can also buy reusable filters. I have found these to be more of a pain than they are worth, but if you are Eco conscious and do not like the idea of paper filters they are a good option.

All of these products are just accessories and add ons to your coffee machine. If you do not purchase a high quality machine you will end up regretting it down the road. While the cheaper ones can make a decent tasting cup of coffee, the problem is that in general they do not last. A high quality name brand coffee pot should last you many years.

Best Coffee Maker Accessory

What is the most popular Coffee Maker Accessory?

The world of top coffee maker accessories is quite small as there’s not a whole lot you can add to the best appliance out there.

Starting a few years ago, everyone had to have a coffee grinder. That way you could go the store and buy the whole bean coffee and grind as much or as little as you need for a fresher coffee experience. If you watch cooking shows, they use coffee grinders for a lot more than coffee.

Like everything else, coffee grinders range from the really cheap to the really expensive. There are even coffee makers that have a grinder built in so it’s just press it and go. The smaller, less expensive ones can be clumsy at times, but they do the job.

The next step from the coffee bean grinder is the coffee bean vacuum canister. It removes the air and keeps the beans in the dark for the freshest pot of coffee every time. These are usually battery powered so there is one less item plugged in the kitchen outlet, which is always nice. It would also imply that the canister is portable so you can take it to work and home again.

Most people have seen the gold filter baskets. They have been around for a long time now. You never have to buy paper filters again. Also, reusable filters are now considered green, so you would be helping the environment by using a reusable coffee filter. As, with most other coffee maker accessories, these range in price too.

There is also a line of stovetop milk steamers that make it so easy now to have something like this at home. They can be used on just about any gas or electric stove. Many reviews say it’s the next best thing to a commercial machine. They are easy to use and take about the same time that making a pot of coffee will. Do both at once for a great time saver.

If you have an automatic coffee maker that takes refillable coffee pods, you will definately want to experiment to find the best pods available for your coffee machine.

If you really want to impress your friends, there is a whole world of different coffee cups available for any size, type, color, flavor, you name it of coffee. It’s a whole category in itself. Any large department store or kitchen specialty store will have a selection that you’ll be impressed with.

The next time you make that same old pot of coffee at home, think to yourself what great coffee maker accessories are out there and which ones you would like to buy.
